Introduction

The IESMGR 5028 series is a high-performance Layer 2 managed industrial Ethernet switch engineered for mission-critical environments such as power substations, SCADA networks, and transportation infrastructure. This series offers extensive connectivity options with up to 28 Gigabit Ethernet ports, which can be customized using various configurations of copper (RJ45) and fiber (SFP) ports. Designed for 19-inch rack mounting, the hardware features a rugged IP40 metal housing, a fan-less cooling system, and dual redundant power inputs to ensure high availability in demanding industrial settings.

A standout feature of this switch is its full compliance with the IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 standards, which are essential for IEC 61850-based automation systems and utility networks. To survive harsh conditions, the device supports a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and provides robust protection against electromagnetic interference, including surge immunity and ESD protection. The product’s reliability is further validated by its KEMA certification and an MTBF of over 500,000 hours.

The IESMGR 50XX series includes advanced networking capabilities such as MRP and ERPS ring redundancy, which facilitate fast recovery times of less than 20ms to prevent network downtime. It also supports IEEE 1588v2 PTP for high-precision timing, alongside comprehensive security features like 802.1X, RADIUS, and TACACS+. Network administrators can manage the switch through multiple interfaces, including a Web GUI, Telnet, and SNMP (v1/v2c/v3), providing flexible and secure control over industrial communication.
