Introduction
In modern Building Management Systems (BMS) and Industrial Automation environments, a critical challenge arises from the diverse array of communication protocols used by equipment from different manufacturers. Achieving seamless interoperability between these heterogeneous systems is essential for creating unified, efficient, and intelligent operations. Without a common language, valuable data remains siloed, and integrated control becomes complex and costly to implement.
The San Telequip GW BMS 02 02 Automation Protocol Converter is an external, multi-protocol device server engineered to solve this fundamental integration problem. Its primary function is to provide robust and reliable protocol translation between Serial-Serial, Serial-Ethernet, and Ethernet-Ethernet devices. By natively supporting a wide range of industry-standard protocols—including LonWorks®, BACnet, MetasysN2, and Modbus—the converter acts as a powerful universal translator. It includes all the necessary hardware and software drivers to enable a customer's products to interface with various field networks, delivering powerful interoperability through a dedicated and feature-rich design.
BACnet Data Types: AI, AV, AO, BI, BV, BO, MI, MV, MO, LSP, Device
Point Upgrades: Point count can be upgraded to 5000/10000 on some models and to 4096 on Device Capacity: Up to 32 devices can be multi-dropped on the Modbus RTU/BACnet MSTP/N2 side. This number is dependent on site conditions. An RS485 repeater may be required to meet network criteria and achieve maximum device count.
Ethernet Port: 1x 10/100 Ethernet Port (RJ45 Connector).
Configuration: Via web browser
Operating Range: 18 to 72V DC, or ±10% for 24V AC
Consumption: 100mA @ 24V DC.
Connector: 3-Pin Screw type.
Mounting: DIN Rail.
Relative Humidity: 5-90% RH (non-condensing).
Support Documents
A) All features are the same in both models. However, the GW BMS 02 02R supports router functionality for the BACnet MSTP protocol. This means there is no need to configure a CSV file for protocol conversion.
A) The device has 2 serial ports. You can connect up to 64 serial devices (32 devices per port).
A) A CSV file is an Excel file saved in the format “CSV (Comma Delimited)”. It is used to configure the input protocol, output protocol, and other key parameters required for communication and protocol conversion in the GW BMS Gateway.
